Section 12.12.040 Definitions.

    As used in this chapter, the following terms are defined as follows:
    "Eaves" mean the projections of building roof which project beyond the building walls as permitted under the Uniform Building Code as adopted.
    "Encroachment" means a private improvement, structure, or obstruction extending into or located within, upon, above, or under any public right-of-way or public easement. Encroachments shall include all private devices, articles or objects placed and/or stored upon the public right-of-way, including devices which overhang or underlie the right-of-way.
    "Fence" means any artificially constructed barrier of wood, masonry, stone, wire, metal, or any other material or combination of materials erected to enclose, partition, beautify, mark, or screen areas of land.
    "Landscaping" means materials, including, without limitation, grass, ground cover, shrubs, vines, hedges, or trees and nonliving natural materials/vegetation commonly used in landscaped development, as well as attendant irrigation systems.
    "Sign" means any device, structure, fixture, or placard using graphics, symbols, and/or written copy designed specifically for the purpose of advertising or identifying any establishment, product, goods or service.
    "Structure" means anything constructed or erected with a fixed location below, on, or above grade, including, without limitation, foundations, fences, retaining walls, awnings, balconies, and canopies. (Ord. 143 (part), 1999)
