Section 16.32.100 Drainage facilities.

    A.    The drainage system and facilities required for any surface run-off affecting the subdivision is subject to approval by the city. Applicant shall submit a grading plan from a registered civil engineer or land surveyor indicating the proposed method for handling the on-site and off-site water. Subdivisions containing lots less than twenty (20) acres in size also shall meet the minimum drainage standards of the Montana Department of Health and Environmental Sciences.
    B.    Curbs and gutters shall be required. Curbs and gutters of adjoining properties shall be extended according to current specifications of local and state authorities.
    C.    Culverts or bridges of adequate size shall be provided and installed by the subdivider where drainage channels intersect any street right-of-way or easement. All culverts shall extend at least across the entire width of the base of the fill; the amount of backfill to be placed over the culvert and the culvert's capacity shall be determined by a registered engineer. This shall include arrangements for driveway culverts.
    D.    The subdivider shall provide suitable drainage facilities for any surface run-off affecting the subdivision; these facilities shall be located in street rights-of-way or in perpetual easements of appropriate widths and are subject to approval by the city.
    E.    Each culvert or other drainage facility shall be large enough to accommodate potential run-off from upstream drainage areas.
    F.    Drainage systems shall not discharge into any sanitary sewer facility.
    G.    The grading and drainage system shall be designed and certified by a registered engineer.
    H.    The city may require the subdivider to grant easements to prevent encroachment or disruption of drainages or facilities. Drainage easements shall be drawn on the plat and a signed statement granting the easements shall appear on the plat. (Ord. 131 (part), 1998: prior code § 16.01.040A-9)
