Section 2.32.010 Duties.

    A.    The chief of police shall execute and return all processes issued by the police judge, or directed to the chief by legal authority, and to attend upon police court regularly;
    B.    The chief of police shall arrest all persons guilty of a breach of the peace or for the violation of any city ordinance, and bring them before the police judge for trial;
    C.    The chief of police shall have charge and control of all police officers subject to such rules as may be prescribed by ordinance, and to report to the council all delinquencies or neglect of duty or official misconduct of police officers for the action of the council;
    D.    The chief of police has the same powers as a constable in the discharge of his/her duties, but the chief must not serve a process in any civil action or proceeding except when the city is a party;
    E.    The chief of police shall perform such other duties as the council may prescribe. (Ord. 131 (part), 1998: prior code § 2.06.010)
