Section 6.08.100 Disposition of dangerous and vicious animals.
A. Any dog or other animal which bites a person may be
quarantined by the animal control
officer for up to ten days. During the quarantine, the animal shall be securely confined in a manner
approved by the animal control officer.
B. The owner may reclaim such animal after this time
by paying the impoundment release fee
to the city administration or a duly appointed agent and all costs of confinement in the animal
control reclaimed by the owner at the end of the quarantine shall be considered unredeemed and
shall be disposed of in accordance to the policies of the animal shelter.
C. The city judge may determine a dog to be dangerous/vicious
as defined in Section 6.04.020.
and may order a dangerous or vicious animal destroyed. Refusal or neglect to kill any such animal
within twenty-four (24) hours after receiving such order shall constitute a violation of this chapter.
