Section 6.08.120 Disposition of impounded animals.

    A.    In the event that any dog or other animal is impounded, the owner shall redeem the same within seventy-two (72) hours by paying the impoundment release fee to the city administration or a duly appointed agent and all costs of confinement in the animal control shelter and any other charges which may be due. Unredeemed animals shall be subject to disposal as hereinafter provided.
    Impoundment release fee shall be as follows:

Licensed dog or out of town guest or within the city less than sixty (60) days, or dogs less than five months old

    *If the owner is a resident within the city limits of Hamilton, a license shall be obtained for the dog prior to the release from the animal control shelter, unless the dog is less than five months old.

    B.    The owner of an unredeemed animal forfeits all right, title and interest to the animal. Unredeemed animals shall be disposed of in accordance with the policies of the animal control shelter. (Ord. 172 (part), 2000: Ord. 131 (part), 1998: prior code § 8.02.600)
