Section 8.20.010 Refuse burning restrictions.

    A.    The city council may establish opening burning periods within the city. No open burning of refuse shall be permitted except during the time periods established by the city council.
    B.    No person shall cause, suffer, allow or permit an open fire for refuse burning except under the following conditions:
    1.    When burning materials originating on the premises by individuals residing on the premises, excluding commercial establishments, but not including chicken litter, animal droppings, garbage, dead animals, tires, waste oil, tar paper and similar materials creating dense smoke:
    2.    The city may restrict the days and times of open burning dependent upon weather conditions;
    3.    When fires are used for outdoor cooking or other recreational purpose and no public nuisance is created. (Ord. 118 (part), 1997: prior code § 7.06.010)
