SKATEPARK SAFETY
Basics for parents to keep beginning skaters safe

GO SLOW!
Beginning skaters should NOT skate fast.  Young skaters learn to bail and wreck by  going slowly.

SKATE THE STREET ARC
This is the safest place to learn the balance, with the gradual drops.

START IN THE BOTTOM OF THE BOWLS
If young skaters hope to skate the bowls, they should start in the bottom, push off, and learn to pump, and turn, to gain speed.  Dropping in from the top of the bowls is for advanced skaters only.

LEARN TO TURN
Before you try anything that involves dropping in or rolling down, skaters should be very comfortable with a kick turn.

WEAR PROTECTIVE GEAR
A helmet is the bare minimum.  Knee and elbow pads are also recommended.

NEVER skate when the park has snow or is even wet or damp.  The concrete is insanely slick!

Prohibited Activities:

Alcohol, campfires, firearms, hunting, littering, motorized vehicles

Dogs are not allowed in this park

The City reserves the right to close the facility or prohibit persons using the facility for failure to follow the rules or for any other circumstances deemed necessary.

Do not skate on any damaged surfaces.  Report any damage, hazardous conditions, concerns, or suggestions to the Parks Department at 406-363-6717.
